Syrup Presentation

Each 5 ml contains:
Cyproheptadine Hydrochloride 2 mg

Cyproheptadine is histamine blocker, it also blocks serotonin. It produces antiemetic effect by blocking the central muscarinic receptors.

Indications

  • Allergic rhinitis
  • Allergic conjunctivitis
  • Treats Migraine

Mechanism of action

It competitively inhibits the binding of the free histamine to its receptor and prevents its negative symptom, cyproheptadine also inhibits the serotonin in smooth muscles of the small intestine thus stimulate appetite.

  • Drowsiness
  • Dizziness
  • Insomnia
  • Blurring of vision
  • Loss of coordination

Contraindication

  • Contraindicated in closed angle glaucoma
  • Contraindicated in high BP
Pregnancy: Used only if benefits outweigh the risk
